Daniele was born and raised in Foggia, a town located in Puglia, the heel of Italy’s boot. He studied Chemistry at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the University of Bologna “Alma Mater Studiorum”.
After working for Nippon Kayaku Co. Ltd in Tokyo, Japan, through the Vulcanus in Japan Fellowship, in 2016 he joined the group of Prof. Paolo Melchiorre at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) in Tarragona, Spain, as a doctoral student. His PhD research focused on the photoexcitation of catalytically generated intermediates and their application in synthetic chemistry.
Following his doctorate, Daniele was awarded a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship to carry out postdoctoral research in the group of Prof. Timothy Noël at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where he explored continuous-flow strategies in photochemistry and fluorine chemistry.
In November 2022, he returned to Italy as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Padova, where he collaborated with Prof. Luca Dell’Amico and initiated a research line dedicated to the development of electrochemical methods.
Since November 2024, Daniele has been a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical and Technological Sciences at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata.” His current research focuses on the development of novel (asymmetric) radical transformations driven by photochemical and electrochemical tools.
